O Cerco Ideológico do Estado Novo à Imprensa de «Província»
Abstract
Após a aprovação da Constituição, em 1933, o Estado Novo lançou uma nova política de informação assente em dois instrumentos: a Direcção Geral dos Serviços de Censura e o Secretariado de Propaganda Nacional (S.P.N.). O SPN produziu dois documentos, no seu primeiro ano de actividade, referentes à sua actuação junto da imprensa de província, estando um deles até aqui inédito.
O presente artigo, partindo desta base documental, procurou contribuir para uma reflexão em torno do processo de arranque do novo sistema informativo do Estado Novo. Tudo parece indicar que a actuação do novo regime junto da imprensa de província» foi prudente, gradual e planificada. As intervenções punitivas procuraram lidar com a diferenças regionais existentes e contaram a seu favor com jornais de influência local circunscrita.
