INVITATION TO SUBMIT ARTICLES

We invite all interested parties to submit articles for publication in De Legibus - Law Journal.
Any author, being or not connected with the Lusófona University Law School, may submit articles for publication in De Legibus.

  • CALL FOR PAPERS: Law, Nature, and Environment

    De Legibus Law Review (ISSN: 2182-5912/e-ISSN: 2976-0542), the peer-reviewed journal of the Faculty of Law of Universidade Lusófona, invites submissions for its December 2026 Special Issue dedicated to the theme “Law, Nature, and Environment”. This issue aims to foster critical, interdisciplinary, and comparative legal scholarship addressing the profound transformations currently reshaping the relationship between law, nature, sovereignty, and democracy.

    As environmental degradation, climate change, and ecological crises intensify, legal systems worldwide are increasingly challenged to rethink foundational concepts such as legal personhood, rights, jurisdiction, responsibility, and governance. This special issue seeks to explore how law responds to these challenges, particularly in light of emerging ecological paradigms.

  • NEW DEADLINE - SPECIAL ISSUE "LAW, STATE AND DEMOCRACY" - CALL FOR PAPERS

    De Legibus is accepting article submissions for a special issue on "Law, State, and Democracy," scheduled for June 2025. The focus is on exploring the complex relationships between these elements, particularly in the context of current democratic crises. Submissions can take legal or interdisciplinary approaches and must be in Portuguese, Spanish, French, or English. The deadline for submissions is May 4th, 2025.     De LEGIBUS - Lusófona University (Lisbon) Law Journal is pleased to invite submissions for the next issue of the journal. We would like to remind you that the magazine is published in two issues per year, but the deadline for submitting doctrinal articles and other original texts is open throughout the year.

    Submitted articles must be necessarily unpublished, on Law subjects or including Law subjects, written in Portuguese, from Portugal or Brazil, Spanish, French or English. Articles shall be accepted with a maximum of three authors. Several articles by the same author (even if co-authored) shall not be published in the same issue of the Journal.

    Each article should not exceed 20.000 words.

    Articles will be approved for publication after being subjected to a double peer review in anonymity, having obtained two favourable opinions for publication and having introduced any corrections suggested in the opinions.

    Furthermore, all contributions selected for their quality and relevance will be assigned (at the expense of the Journal) a unique alphanumeric digital identification code (Digital Object Identifier - DOI).

    Once an article is received, the Editors will make a preliminary assessment of the suitability of the article's subject to the Journal's editorial line and the article's conformity to the Journal's style guide (in annex). The article will then be sent, anonymously, to external reviewers/evaluators for their opinion. Once the article is approved, the authors will receive a notification and will have a maximum period of 15 days to return it with the necessary changes.

    Revision of the text, in written languages, is the entire responsibility of the authors and automatic translation is not allowed. The Journal reserves the right to introduce stylistic, orthographic and grammatical alterations in the article approved for publication, respecting, however, the author's style.

    If the production of the article has received any type of financing, the authors should indicate it in a footnote on the first page.

    With the approval of two referees and the introduction of the changes required by the referees, the article will be publishable in the next issue of De Legibus that is not closed.

    In the months of June and November of each year, the De Legibus Editors will close an issue of De Legibus, following its publication, respectively, in the months of July and December.

    The Editors maintain autonomy to publish articles by guest authors.

    No royalties or any remuneration will be due for the publication of papers in the Journal.
