Author Guidelines

Languages
The International Journal on Stereo & Immersive Media is published in English or in Portuguese. In either case, the title, abstract and keywords must be in English. Author names, affiliations, charts, graphs, and bibliographic references must be in Roman alphabets.

Originality
The submission must be original, not previously published, and not under consideration by other publications. If the material has been previously published it is not generally acceptable for publication in IJSIM. However, there are certain circumstances where previously published material can be considered for publication. Please contact the Editor for further discussion. In case the article is not published within one year, the author may submit it to other publications with prior information to IJSIM's editor.

Manuscript Submission

The submission must be online, after registration on the website of International Journal of Stereo & Immersive Media, at the following address: https://revistas.ulusofona.pt/index.php/stereo/submission/wizard

Submission will be made anonymously, ie the manuscript should not have any reference to the authors or the institution they belong to. The authors must ensure that their manuscripts are prepared in such a way that they do not reveal their identities to reviewers, either directly or indirectly.

All submissions will be selected by double-blind peer review. The author must therefore provide in separate files:

  1. The title page should include the title, author’s name and affiliations, email address, acknowledgements (optional) and conflict of interest statement (if necessary).
  2. The author should ensure the anonymized manuscript is correctly prepared for double-blind peer review, by removing any kind of identification or affiliation. The author’s name, profile, ranking and institutional affiliation should only be mentioned in the appropriate submission fields. Revised articles will also be treated confidentially until the date of their publication.
  3. Attachments: Manuscripts may be accompanied by attachment files. In the case of materials produced by others, these are accepted under the condition that all applicable permissions were obtained by the author(s). Attachments should be numbered in order of appearance in the article. Graphics should be in JPEG, GIF, PNG, or TIFF format. Audio excerpts should be in MP3, or WAV format. Video excerpts should be in MPEG, AVI, or WMV format.

Our Peer Review Process
A manuscript submitted to the International Journal on Stereo & Immersive Media will be assessed by an editor to make sure the article falls within the journal’s scope and proposed themes. If so, the manuscript is selected for peer-review and sent to two reviewers for blind review (i.e., the names of the authors and the reviewers will not be disclosed). At this moment, authors are notified about the rejection of their manuscript or about its selection for peer-review. Authors will then receive feedback from their reviewers along with a publication decision made by an editor.

When a manuscript is accepted, the author is asked to submit a final copy. If the manuscript is accepted with revisions, the author will be asked to submit a change note with his final submission, explaining how he revised his article in light of the reviewers’ comments.

An editor will then check that the reviewers’ comments have been addressed before accepting the article for publication. Editors may request further revisions if necessary. Final publication decisions are made by the editors of the journal.

Appeals
If an article is rejected by the International Journal on Stereo & Immersive Media, the authors may appeal the decision by writing to the editor-in-chief. The appeal should be justified by taking into consideration the reviewers’ comments. The editorial board will analyse the appeal and consider the possibility of further blind reviews of the manuscript.
