Author Guidelines

1. Guidelines for Authors

   1. Articles must be original and should preferably be written in Portuguese, Galician, English, Spanish or French, or in accordance with the guidelines provided by the editors of thematic issues and their respective calls for papers.

   2. Articles must be submitted online, after registration, through the Cadernos de Sociomuseologia website at the following address: http://revistas.ulusofona.pt/index.php/cadernosociomuseologia

   3. Submissions must be anonymous, i.e., the article must not contain any reference to the authors or to their institutional affiliations. Personal information must be provided on a separate page; articles submitted by email must include identification, personal details, email address and institutional affiliation on a separate page: cadernos.sociomuseologia@ulusofona.pt

   4. Formatting: Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt; 1.5 line spacing; justified text with margins of no less than 3 cm. Quotations of four lines or more must be single-spaced, indented 4 cm from both the left and right margins, and use an 11 pt font. Notes must appear as footnotes (Times New Roman, 10 pt; single spacing). Articles must contain a minimum of 30,000 and a maximum of 40,000 characters (including spaces), including graphs, tables, images, endnotes and bibliographic references.

   5. Articles must be accompanied, at the beginning, by an abstract in Portuguese and another in English (1,200–1,500 characters including spaces), as well as 3 to 5 keywords separated by semicolons. The abstract must clearly state the general topic, research problem, objectives, methodology and main conclusions.

   6. All authors who submit their articles for publication in Cadernos de Sociomuseologia undertake not to submit them to other journals unless the articles have not been published within one year. At the same time, they grant the editorial team of Cadernos de Sociomuseologia (CSM) the rights required for indexing in international networks.

   7. The content of the texts and the opinions expressed therein, as well as references to previously published figures or graphs, are the sole responsibility of the authors.

   8. If the research was funded by public or private resources, the funding source must be mentioned in the conflict-of-interest statement.

   9. If the article is not published within one year, the author may submit it to other publications, provided that the Editorial Board of CSM is informed in advance.

   10. The bibliographic referencing guidelines followed by Cadernos de Sociomuseologia are the updated APA guidelines (American Psychological Association): APA Style. Bibliographic citations must be included in the body of the text in accordance with these guidelines. Notes, where applicable, must appear at the end of the text, before the bibliographic references. The list of Bibliographic References must not exceed 25 entries.

   11. For each author, a contact email address, ORCID, institutional affiliation and a short CV of no more than 180 characters must be provided.

   12. Peer Review Process (double-blind peer review)

   12.1. Following each submission, the author(s) will receive confirmation of receipt of the manuscript by email.

   12.2. The submitted manuscript will initially be reviewed by the Editorial Board to verify:

   • compliance with the guidelines;

   • suitability for the scope of the Journal;

   • publication potential.

   Manuscripts may be rejected at this stage, in which case the author(s) will be notified of the rejection by email.

   12.3. The Editorial Board will send the manuscript to at least two reviewers for evaluation. The evaluation criteria include:

   • originality and scientific contribution;

   • clarity of the objectives;

   • adequacy of the literature review;

   • methodological rigour;

   • clarity of the results;

   • validity of the conclusions;

   • relevance of the references;

   • quality of the language.

   The Journal adopts a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of the reviewers and authors are mutually concealed.

   The manuscript and all associated details are kept confidential by the Journal's Editorial Board and by all individuals involved in the review process.

   12.4. Reviewers must respond to the editor within a maximum period of one month, providing their comments on the submitted manuscript and indicating one of the following decisions:

   a) Accepted for publication;
   b) Accepted subject to revision (with recommendations);
   c) Rejected.

   12.5. Within 15 days of receiving the reviewers' reports, the Editorial Board must inform the authors of the decision and return the article with the reviewers' comments if revisions are required. In the event of conflicting reviews, additional reviewers or members of the Editorial Board may be consulted.

   12.6. Authors have one month to submit a revised version of the manuscript incorporating the changes recommended by the reviewers, with the modifications highlighted in a different colour.

   Based on the material available, the Editorial Board will decide whether to accept or reject the manuscript, and the author(s) will be informed of this decision.

   12.7. After the article has been accepted for publication and the entire review process has been completed, the Editorial Board will send the article to the authors for proofreading, already in its final format but without definitive numbering. Authors have five days to review the text and report any typographical errors. At this stage, authors may not make any substantive changes to the article, other than corrections of typographical and/or spelling errors.

   12.8. The estimated average time to final publication of the contribution is four to six months, calculated from the beginning of the academic review process and taking into account the editorial procedures described above.
