About the Journal

Temas Sociais Journal is a scientific journal of the Universidade Lusófona – Centro Universitário de Lisboa, published in collaboration with the LusoGlobe Research Centre, and constitutes an academic forum for the publication, dissemination, and debate of ideas and research results in the field of the social and human sciences, with particular emphasis on social intervention, social policy, and especially social work.

It is an interdisciplinary journal, open to contributions from different areas of the social and human sciences, including social work, social policy, social intervention, psychology, sociology, pedagogy, philosophy, and critical studies, among others. The journal aims to contribute to the production and circulation of scientific knowledge, fostering theoretical, methodological, and empirical dialogue among researchers, academics, professionals, and students.

Temas Sociais Journal publishes original scientific articles, both theoretical and empirical, as well as essays, interviews of academic or scientific relevance, and critical reviews of works relevant to the fields under analysis. Manuscripts may be submitted in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French, and the journal welcomes national and international contributions, seeking to reach a broad academic readership at an international level.

Founded in 2021, the journal has a biannual publication frequency, with two issues per year. It is supported by an editorial team mainly composed of scholars in social work and by an editorial and scientific board made up of specialists from different countries and fields within the social and human sciences, reinforcing its interdisciplinary and international scope.

The editorial orientation of Temas Sociais Journal is guided by principles of transparency, scientific rigor, theoretical pluralism, and respect for research ethics. All submitted manuscripts undergo a process of external peer review under a double-blind review system (double-blind peer review), ensuring high standards of academic quality. Submissions must comply with the journal’s editorial policies, including those related to ethics, privacy, copyright, and submission conditions, and authors are fully responsible for the content of their work.

Temas Sociais Journal is an open access journal, providing free, immediate, and unrestricted access to its contents, with the aim of promoting the circulation of scientific knowledge and academic exchange at both national and international levels. The journal assigns persistent digital identifiers (DOI – Digital Object Identifier) to published articles, ensuring their permanent identification, citation, and traceability.

Temas Sociais adopts international best editorial practices, ensuring interoperability, persistent identification, and the digital preservation of its contents. The journal uses the OAI-PMH protocol for metadata dissemination, assigns DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) to published articles, is configured for indexing in Google Scholar, and ensures long-term digital preservation through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN).
