Abstract

ABSTRACT

This paper aims to study the fate reserved by the United Nations Security Council to the situations of violation of the constitutional order of States, particularly in cases of an overthrow of a democratically elected government. If, for the most part, the Security Council has rarely concerned itself about violations of constitutional order, a recent trend seems to be emerging in which compliance with national Constitutions and the maintenance of international peace are perceived as being more closely related.
