A Proteção Dos Trabalhadores Das Plataformas Digitais
Abstract
Due to the digital transition, accentuated by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the consequent change in the current job market, digital platforms and the people who provide their services there have been a fundamental part in the development and improvement of this new social and economy in which we operate.
The work provided on digital platforms brings great opportunities to workers, either because they can work from anywhere, when they want and how they want, shaping their activity, whether as a main activity or as a complement to a main activity. However, not everything is positive opportunities, with digital platform workers being subject to some risks and challenges that should not be ignored. In fact, there is still some uncertainty regarding the contractual link that connects the worker to the digital platform. Is the worker legally linked to the digital platform, his employer? Is the worker who performs his work through a digital platform adequately protected? In fact, there are still some rough edges to be ironed out so that this way of providing work activity is positive and brings benefits to workers, essentially with regard to adequate remuneration, social benefits and the benefit of safety and health standards at work.
