Provérbios: uma fonte para a História da Educação
Abstract
Embora geralmente de origem erudita, os provérbios acabaram por ser consagrados pelo povo que os preservou do esquecimento e os divulgou. Sob a forma de sentença, encerram conhecimentos milenares feitos de experiência e seduzem-nos, ainda hoje, pela agudeza do raciocínio, pela beleza das suas metáforas. É tempo de a História da Educação se interessar também pelo conhecimento da importância que o povo tem dado ao saber e de perceber como tem entendido ele o processo de ensino/aprendizagem. O estudo foi levado a cabo recorrendo à análise de conteúdo e, contrariamente ao esperado , chegou-se à conclusão de que os provérbios conferem à educação uma grande importância, expressa não só pelo número de provérbios a ela dedicados (411), mas também pelas apreciações positivas aí contidas.
